Former Buford star Bart named collegiate All-Region

ATLANTA — Georgia Tech baseball sophomore catcher Joey Bart was named to the 2017 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division I Atlantic all-region team, it was announced today.

Bart earned a spot on the all-region second team.

Earning a spot on the second team as a catcher, Bart adds to his accolades for this season. An all-ACC second team selection and Johnny Bench Award Semifinalist, Bart led the team with 13 home runs and 43 RBIs on the year despite missing the last 11 games of the season due to an injury. In addition to the home runs and RBIs, the Buford native hit .296 with 55 total hits, 13 doubles and 36 runs. He also posted a team-best .575 slugging percentage and threw out 10 would-be base stealers.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America Committee.
