Three public hearings have been scheduled to discuss a proposed 26.34-percent increase in Hall County property takes, officials announced Thursday.
Commissioners have tentatively adopted a budget with a millage rate increase of 1.449 mills to 6.950 mills, which county officials said would go towards the funding of a required fifth superior court judge, state-mandated restructuring of property tax collection and a bump in employees at the Hall County Jail, among others items.
The first two public hearings will be held Thursday, June 15 — one at 11 a.m. and one at 6 p.m.
A third hearing will be held a week later, June 22, at 6 p.m., at which point the budget and millage rate will be formally adopted.
All public hearings will be held at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road.
Officials said in a statement that the approximate increase in property taxes for a home valued at $200,000 would be $113.02.
