Suspect identified in fraudulent withdrawal from animal shelter bank account

Police is Sandy Springs have identified a Peachtree City woman as the suspect in the theft of thousands of dollars from an animal shelter's bank account.

According to a release from the Sandy Springs Police Department, a warrant for forgery in the first degree was issued for Amy Ervin, 38.

The money was taken from the bank account of PAWS Atlanta, which is based in Decatur. Ervin allegedly used a phony withdrawal ticket, posing as the organization executive director.

Ervin is currently in the Gwinnett County Jail on unrelated charges, according to the press release.
