Acting on a tip, investigators in Jackson County arrested two people and seized a pound of marijuana Monday at a residence in Maysville.

Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office arrested Andrew Lee Veal, 36, and Angela Denise Adams, 42, both of Maysville, according to sheriff Janis Mangum.

"Investigators responded to the residence to follow up on an anonymous tip that drug activity was taking place with Adams and Veal being the suspects," Mangum wrote in a news release.

Deputies executed a search warrant and found the marijuana and digital scales.  The estimated street value of the drugs is roughly $2,000.

Veal faces the more serious charges of possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana, more than one ounce.

Adams was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana, less than one ounce, and had a warrant for violation of probation.

"Both subjects are currently in the Jackson County Jail," Mangum wrote Wednesday afternoon.
