Oakwood police said Wednesday morning they have identified the driver they think is responsible for a hit-and-run crash that left a man with serious injuries last week.

Sgt. Danny Sridej with the Oakwood Police Department said in a press release that tips from the public led them to 84-year-old Hubert Delong, Jr. of Oakwood.

At this point, Delong has not been charged in the May 31 incident.

"We are gathering up evidence and processing both vehicles before filing charges," Sridej said via email.

The driver of the vehicle that was hit, a 71-year-old Gainesville man, suffered serious injuries in the crash on Thurman Tanner Parkway, according to Sridej. Authorities did not release his name.

Sridej credited the public with helping them locate Delong. After police released video footage to the media, tips from the public began coming to the police department, and they were able to find Delong's vehicle.
