Thousands of people lined Green Street in Gainesville Monday morning as part of the annual parade that takes place there each Memorial Day.

Herman Hooper walks in memory of World War II veteran Cecil Boswell of Gainesville, who died earlier this year at the age of 99. Boswell walked the parade route for years in his Army uniform. Hooper drove in the parade each year behind Boswell just in case he needed a ride.
The Chestatee High School Marching War Eagle Band was one of four high school marching bands in the 2017 parade.

Freddie the Falcon, the mascot of the Atlanta Falcons, entertained the crowd along the parade route on his ATV.
