Friends of the Braselton-West Jackson Library and the library staff are hosting a nationally acclaimed author, Lisa Wingate, at its annual membership drive reception.
The event is slated for Tuesday, June 6 from noon until 2:00 at the Hoschton Depot, and is free and open to the public.
Wingate’s newest book, “Before We Were Yours,” will debut, and she will sell autographed copies. The fictionalized novel depicts thousands of children of single mothers and poverty-stricken parents whose children were taken during the 1920s until 1950 in Tennessee. Children were often kept in unlicensed boarding facilities and given new names and histories before being advertised for adoption.
Braselton Library manager, Lori Hayes, says “As always, it is a pleasure to partner with our Friends of the Library, and we’re excited to introduce Ms. Wingate’s new novel toour patrons and neighbors.”
