GSP reports Toccoa woman was victim of fatal Habersham crash

MT. AIRY — Monday afternoon’s two-vehicle wreck on Ga. 365 in Habersham County claimed the life of a Toccoa woman.

Bertha Drucilla Collier, 85, died of injuries received when her green 2016 Toyota Prius collided with a white 1999 Ford light conventional truck on Ga. 365 crossing from Jess Kinney Road to Hulsey Road at 12:08 p.m., according to Georgia State Patrol Post 7 in Toccoa. The area of impact was in the right northbound lane of Ga. 365.

The driver of the pickup truck, 75-year-old Carvel Lee Wassell of Demorest, was trapped and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. He was transported by ambulance for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries, according to GSP.

Judith Elaine Wassell, 70, of Demorest, was the passenger in the truck. She was injured and was transported for ambulance for treatment of non-incapacitating injuries, according to GSP.

The wreck shut down the northbound lanes of Ga. 365 from Hulsey Road to Tom Arrendale Interchange for more than 90 minutes.
