The first of two planned hearings on redrawing school attendance zones in South Hall is scheduled Tuesday at Johnson High School.  The second will be held May 30 at Flowery Branch High School.  Both will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The Hall County Board of Education approved plans for the two meetings April 24.

While the school district has been accepting public input online for the redistricting, officials also want to hear from residents in person, officials said at the time.

Under the plan proposed by district officials:

All of the changes are expected to take place in time for the 2018-19 school year.

Opposition has formed to some of the plans.  A group of Sterling on the Lake residents has started an online petition drive opposing parts of the redistricting proposal that would affect some of their children.  As of mid-morning Sunday, it had 384 supporters, according to the group's website.
