Barrow County Emergency Services is joining the American College of Emergency Physicians in National EMS Week on May 21 through May 27.

This year's theme is "EMS Strong - Always in Service" and recognizes EMS for its service to communities through response, treatment, transports, prevention and intervention efforts.

Barrow County Emergency Services responded to 7,968 calls for medical help in 2016, transporting and treating patients in 4,442 of those incidents.

"These medical calls were handled by men and women that strive to give the best outcome for each patient. The department works hard to stay up to date on the best treatment protocols. They have upgraded much of the EMS equipment to the newest technology and continue to build for the future every day," said a press release from Barrow County EMS.

“Our personnel are some of the best you can find anywhere, and are dedicated to their job and the citizens of Barrow County,” said Chief John Skinner in the release. “From providing excellent patient care, to offering a patient or family member a comforting word, these men and women are always ready to help when called upon. I want to thank the men and women of Barrow County Emergency Services for their hard work and dedication to the jobs they perform. You all prove every day that we are EMS Strong and that we are Always In Service.”
