During an open house on May 18, Hall County residents will have another chance to talk with the officials who are crafting the latest edition of the county's comprehensive plan, known as Hall County Forward.

Sarah McQuade is a principal planner with the county, and she said the planning staff and consultants have been working on the new comprehensive plan for about a year, and they're coming to the end of the process.

"That said, there's still a great opportunity for the public to be involved," McQuade said. "Nothing is finalized until it's been adopted by the Board of Commissioners."

There's no set date for that vote just yet, according to McQuade.

"After the open house, the consultants will do final revisions and present a draft to the [Hall County] Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners for an initial review," McQuade said.

The May 18 open house will be a drop-in format, according to McQuade. Residents can come by the Commission Meeting Room at the Hall County Government Center on Browns Bridge Road between 6 and 7:30 p.m. and review plans, see the land use map and talk with consultants and planning staff.

The state of Georgia requires an update to the comprehensive plan every five years.
