The second round of the postseason started well for northeast Georgia soccer programs on Tuesday.
(NOTE: For a complete round-up of Tuesday's second round scores, Wednesday's schedule and quarterfinal match-ups clinched for area teams, simply scroll down.)
Three of the four teams that competed clinched state quarterfinal berths, two with impressive ease, as the Buford girls defeated Locust Grove 10-0 and the Flowery Branch girls dominated Dutchtown 9-0. Meanwhile, the Jefferson girls also clinched their first ever "Elite Eight" spot courtesy a 3-0 win over Woodward Academy in College Park.
Lakeview Academy's girls suffered the only setback of the night, falling 3-0 against second-ranked and undefeated Presbyterian Day School in Macon.
Will the outcomes prove a good omen for Wednesday's boys match-ups? Time will tell, and four northeast Georgia programs will take their shots at marching through tonight.
Three of the four will hit the road, as the Buford boys trek to South Effingham in Class AAAAA, Chestatee's boys travel to Augusta's Richmond Academy in Class AAAA and the East Hall boys head south to Crisp County in Class AAA. Gainesville's boys, meanwhile, will play host to Glynn Academy in Class AAAAAA.
