The University of North Georgia has named one of their own chief of staff, expanding Kate Maine's previous role as associate vice president of university relations.

She will provide leadership and coordination for administrative functions, including government relations, policy administration and communication as well as continuing to oversee the Office of University Relations, which includes media relations, web communications, marketing and university events.

Maine joined UNG in 2008. She has served as a member of the President's Cabinet since 2012.

Maine earned a master’s degree in higher education administration from Georgia Southern University and a bachelor’s degree in public relations from the University of Georgia, and she is professionally accredited by the Public Relations Society of America. In 2016, she graduated from the University System of Georgia’s Executive Leadership Institute and received the Award of Excellence for Communications and Marketing from the Georgia Education Advancement Council.

She serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Education Advancement & Marketing. She also serves as the vice chair of the Communications and Public Affairs Advisory Council for the American Association of State Colleges and Universities and chaired that group’s communications conference for senior communications professionals in 2015 and 2016.
