Sue Voorhees, a volunteer at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter, is the recipient of the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award - an honor the United States government grants to volunteers who work 4,000 hours or more over the course of their lifetime. It took Voorhees only four years to achieve the honor.
Division Manager for the Gwinnett Animal Welfare and Enforcement Department, Curt Harrell, says without volunteers, the shelter could not operate.
