ATLANTA — Reese Olson scattered seven hits and struck out five in a clutch complete-game performance to lead North Hall to a 4-1 win over Pace Academy in Game 2 of the two teams' best-of-three Class AAA series Friday.

It was a must-win for the Trojans, who had dropped the first game 7-3 to the Knights. Pace Academy came into the game as the second-highest scoring team in Class AAA.

That made Olson's gem even more remarkable. Pace Academy (20-8) pounded out 10 hits, including three doubles and a triple, against Trojans hurlers Corban Meeler and Austin Adams in Game 1.

In the first game North Hall (20-11) took a quick 1-0 lead in the first. The Knights tied it in the bottom of the inning but the Trojans reclaimed the lead, 2-1, in the second. They couldn't hold it.

Pace exploded for four runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull away as four North Hall errors contributed.

Taber Mongero had theee hits including a double and a triple, with three RBI in the first game for North Hall.

In the second game, North Hall again claimed the early lead with two runs in the first. The Trojans added two more in the third and turned it over to Olson.

Pace Academy managed seven hits in the second game but could not get the big one. Jackson Latty had two hits and an RBI and Adams, Olson, Charlie Erickon, and John Mark Montgomery each had a hit for North Hall in Game 2.

Game 3 will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Pace Academy with the winner moving on to play Southeast Bulloch, which swept Monroe in the first round.

Reese Olson kept North Hall's season alive with a brilliant seven-hitter in the Trojans' 4-1 win over Pace Academy Friday in in Game 2 of their Class AAA best-of-three series.
