BUFORD — Buford bats fought back from a quiet Game 1 to help the Wolves baseball program win Game 2 over North Springs on Friday and force a decisive Game 3 on Saturday in Buford.

The Wolves dropped Game 1 of a doubleheader 4-1 at Gerald McQuaig Field, managing just five hits.

But instead of panicking, Buford stayed patient at the plate for Game 2, and the strategy paid off. Not only did the Wolves produce 10 hits, they also drew 15 walks against North Springs pitching en route to a 12-4 victory.

The Wolves scored eight runs over the final two innings to seal the victory, breaking away from a 4-4 tie.

Akira Mitchell had a strong day at the plate for the Wolves, producing four hits over the two games, including two doubles. Reese McIntyre also had two hits in Game 2.

Game 3 is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Gerald McQuaig Field.

Buford's Noah Ledford (3) leaps to snag a throw in front of a North Springs base runner in the two teams' doubleheader split on Friday in Buford. The two teams will play Game 3 of their round state playoff series at 2 p.m. Saturday in Buford.
