Firearms permits issued in Georgia are now valid in Virginia, and vice-versa, officials announced Wednesday.
Virginia joins a list of 31 other states that will honor Georgia firearms permits, and which will in turn be honored in Georgia, according to a news release from Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr.
The catch, however, is that Virginia, like Wisconsin, will only honor permits issued to residents who are 21 and older. Georgia will honor all permits issued in Virginia.
"As always, Georgia firearms permit holders should familiarize themselves with the individual requirements and limitations on firearms permits in any of the reciprocating states where they wish to exercise their rights," said Carr.
The states that offer "reciprocal recognition" are listed below:
- Alabama
- Alaska
- Arkansas
- Arizona
- Colorado
- Florida
- Idaho
- Indiana
- Iowa
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Michigan
- Mississippi
- Missouri
- Montana
- New Hampshire
- North Carolina
- North Dakota
- Ohio
- Oklahoma
- Pennsylvania
- South Carolina
- South Dakota
- Tennessee
- Texas
- Utah
- Virginia
- West Virginia
- Wisconsin
- Wyoming
