After 63 years, the old Enota Elementary School building in Gainesville will be demolished at the end of the current school year.
At Monday night's school board meeting, board members announced the Enota Heritage Celebration where current students and faculty, alumni and community members can pay one last visit to the old school building.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, April 30 from 1:30 to 3:30.
In addition to doing a final walk-through of the old school building, alumni and others will have a chance to order a commemorative brick from the original 1954 structure. You can find out more about ordering a brick, as well as other fundraising opportunities for the new school at this link.
Once the current school year comes to a close, demolition work will begin on the current building. A new school will be built on the same site and should be ready for students by August 2018. Students will spend a transition year at the Centennial Elementary School campus beginning in August 2017.
