Tennis: Lady Trojans advance through first round for 4th straight year

GAINESVILLE — The North Hall girls tennis team advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth consecutive season on Monday after sweeping Stone Mountain 5-0 in dominating fashion in the Class AAA playoffs in Gainesville.

The Lady Trojans (16-4) did not drop a set and lost just one game in the five matches.

Anna Montgomery defeated Shameika Harris 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Lauren Davis beat Diamond Buckford 6-0, 6-0 and Christen Barnes won 6-0, 6-0 by default in the other singles.

In doubles, Sydney Patterson and Annalise Gregory defeated Lisa Le and Gisell Harris 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 and at No. 2 Carsen Baumgardner and Raquel Kallab defeated Trinity Dougherty and Tajue Bennett 6-0, 6-0 to complete the sweep.

North Hall next will play host to the winner of the Cook County-Southeast Bulloch match. That match must be completed by April 25.

Meanwhile, the North Hall boys team's season came to an end with a loss to Lovett in the first round. The Trojans finished as Region 7-AAA runners-up but could not hold off the traditional power Lions.

North Hall takes on Stone Mountain in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs on Monday in Gainesville. The Lady Trojans swept through to the second round.
