An unidentified male driver is hospitalized in serious condition after being involved in multiple vehicle hit-and-runs late Friday night across Hall and Jackson counties.

The man's van struck a total of five vehicles during the hit-and-run spree, which Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook said took place around 11 p.m.

Holbrook said the crashes began on Thompson Bridge Road in the Gainesville area.

"[The van] continued south onto E.E. Butler Parkway and U.S. 129," he continued. "The van crashed on 129 inside Jackson County."

The driver was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in serious condition. Holbrook said no other injuries were reported.

Holbrook said that several agencies are working together in the investigation, noting that the incident crosses multiple jurisdictions.

"Those agencies include the Gainesville Police Department, Hall County Sheriff's Office, Jackson County Sheriff's Office and Georgia State Patrol," he explained.

Charges are possible in the case, according to Holbrook.
