Gwinnett teen, boyfriend charged in murder of grandparents

A 17-year-old girl and her 19-year-old boyfriend now face charges in the death of her grandparents earlier this week.

Cassandra Bjorge was charged Wednesday with two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assualt, according to docket book information from the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office.

Johnny Hiro Rider,19, Bjorge's alleged accomplice also faces murder and aggravated assualt charges, among other charges.

The two teens are accused of killing Bjorge's grandparents, Wendy and Randall Bjorge, both 63, in Lawrenceville. 

Gwinnett Police confirm the manner of death was homicide and the cause of each death was incision to the throat, and they also suffered blunt force trauma and sharp force injuries. Police also said in a press release that the couple likely died one week prior to being found April 8, after police used force to enter the home after several unanswered wellfare calls.

Police also said between October 2015 and March 2017, police responded to the Furlong Run home 31 times, including 18 runaway calls and eight "check as often as possible" calls by neighbors, as well as various domestic dispute and illegal drug suspicion calls.

Police eventually made contact with both Bjorge and Rider, who had suffered self-inflicted stab wounds, after a SWAT standoff in Suwanee. They were taken to a hospital and later, arrested.

Gwinnett Police said they are still exploring a motive. They ask parents in that area to talk with their teenagers to see if they have any information pertaining to the investigation, or if they were at the house or had contact with the suspects between April 1 and April 8.
