LAWRENCEVILLE — The Truett McConnell baseball team led 4-2 through seven innings of play at No. 8 Georgia Gwinnett, but a two-run eighth inning kept the Grizzlies alive long enough to force extra innings and get a walkoff win in the 11th for a 5-4 win.

Trailing 1-0 in the third, the Bears loaded the bases and plated three runs, the first of which on a Casey Guilliams single before plating two more on back-to-back hit by pitches.

TMU added a fourth run in the seventh when Davis Dasher executed a perfect sacrifice squeeze play to stretch the Bears' lead to 4-1. GGC responded with a sacrifice fly to cut the lead to two in the bottom half.

The Grizzlies found two more runs in the eighth on a two-run homer to tie the game. TMU got two on base in the ninth and one in the 10th, but could not plate another run. GGC earned the win on a walkoff single with one out in the inning.

Tate Gaines led the Bears at the plate, hitting 3-for-6 with a run scored.

TMU will return to the field tomorrow at Emmanuel with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
