CLEVELAND — The Truett McConnell baseball team had a 2-1 lead after two innings, but a four-run inning from No. 6 Tennessee Wesleyan put the game out of reach as the Bulldogs took game one of the AAC series, 8-3.

After a scoreless first inning that saw the Bears leave a runner on third, the Bulldogs scratched a run across the plate in the top of the second. TMU responded with a two-RBI single by Davis Dasher to take a 2-1 lead.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases in the third and scored four runs with two outs in the inning to take a 5-2 lead. After another run in the fourth, the Bears cut the lead to two on a Dasher single. The Bulldogs pulled away late in the game, plating single runs in the seventh and ninth innings to earn the victory.

Dasher finished the game 2-for-2 with three RBI.

The Bears and Bulldogs will finish the series with a Saturday twinbill set for a 1 p.m. start.
