Posted 11:31AM on Thursday 30th March 2017 ( 7 years ago )

Traffic will shift at midnight, April 5 (Tuesday night into Wednesday morning), onto the newly constructed lanes of Ga. 20 near the Gwinnett/Forsyth county lines, officials announced.

"The shift will move drivers over to the newly constructed portions of the roadway at the intersections of James Burgess west to Samples Road. This portion will remain an east bound and west bound lane for traffic," said Katie Strickled, Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman, in an email.

Traffic will then split along the new bridge, with one lane headed east, and two lanes headed west over the Chattahoochee River, which marks the county boundaries.

Flaggers will be the in area overnight that night to direct traffic, and drivers are advised to use caution in the area.
