A Wednesday afternoon wreck snarled traffic along I-985 northbound, north of Oakwood at mile marker 18.
At least four vehicles were involved, with one of them catching fire, according to Gainesvile Fire Division Chief Keith Smith, in an email to AccessWDUN.
There was no immediate word on any injuries with the wreck, which happened shortly after 4 p.m. and shutdown the northbound side of the interstate
It appeared to cause on a backup on the southbound side as well.
"There were four people transported with non life threatening injuries to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Emergency Room," Gainesville Fire Department Division Chief Keith Smith wrote in an email. "(Georgia) State Patrol is working the accident, and they would be determining any charges. One vehicle was fully involved with fire and about 50 percent of a second vehicle."
One lane was opened shortly before 6 p.m., and the roadway was fully reopened to area traffic around 6:15.
