Baseball: Olson pitches North Hall past Marist

GAINESVILLE — Reese Olson struck out six and scattered five hits to lead North Hall to a 4-1 win over Marist on Thursday at Jody Davis Field.

The win for the Trojans (12-4) avenged a loss to Marist (7-10) on Tuesday.

Marist took the initial lead with a second inning home run by Connor Stephens. It stayed that way until the Trojans scratched for three runs in the fifth.

Dylan Lavender reach on an error and Taber Mongero singled to right. Austin Adams hit into a fielder's choice at second but Lavender as able to score on the play when the Marist shortstop dropped the ball trying to turn a double play. Charlie Erickson followed with a double to left plating Adams and then Erickson steal home for a 3-1 lead.

North Hall added a run in the sixth when Wesley Smith singled in Drew Hubbard.

The Trojans will open a three-game Region 7-AAA at home on Monday against Union County.

The War Eagles play Columbus on Saturday before opening a key three-game series against West Hall on Tuesday in Oakwood.

North Hall's Reese Olson pitched a five-hitter striking out six to lead the Trojans to a 4-1 win over Marist on Thursday.
