Over 15,000 Jackson EMC customers lost power due to the storms Tuesday night in Northeast Georgia.

Members lost power due to downed trees and power lines, according to a release from Jackson EMC. The release states crews were able to restore more than 6,500 members quickly, but at 11:30 p.m. 8,500 members remained without power.

“We got hit pretty hard with this storm, but we’re doing everything we can to restore power as quickly and safely as possible,” said Tommy Parker, Director of Operations Services said in the release. “Our crews, along with six contract crews and eight right-of-way crews, will work through the night and will continue working until all power is restored.

According to the Jackson EMC online outage map, less than 300 customers remained without power at 10 a.m.
