Tennis: North Hall sweeps past Dawson County in region play

The North Hall boys and girls teams each claimed their first Region 7-AAA match on Thursday against Dawson County.

Both the Trojans and Lady Trojans won 5-0.

North Hall's boys were led by Masa Kobayashi, who defeated Casey Passmore 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Christian Boychuk def Elijah Stanfield 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. Kody Dills also defeated Derek Chambers 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.

The Trojans (3-2, 1-0 Region 7-AAA) also received a win from Daniel Martin /Adam Turcotte, who won 6-0, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles. Shawn Wallhausen/ Ethan Surles also won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles.

In the girls match Anna Montgomery defeated Savanna Kennedy 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, while Lauren Davis defeated Isabel Queen 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Christen Barnes also defeated Madie Binklie 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.

The Lady Trojans (4-1, 1-0) also got a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles behind Raquel Kallab/Sidney Patterson, while Carsen Baumgardner/ Annalise Gregory won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Both teams play again this weekend in the Granger Invitational tournament.
