ORLANDO, Fla. — In the second day of competition at the SpringBreakSports.com Tournament, the Piedmont College women's tennis team picked up a 5-4 victory over Judson University in the morning and dropped a straight sets match to Ursinus 9-0.
The Lady Lions split in the doubles taking a 2-1 advantage into singles play against Judson with MORGAN BUCHHOLZ, SIMONA FLOYD and KARINA RIVERA picking up singles victories. Buchholz bounced back from a 7-5 loss in the first set to force a deciding third set which she took 10-6.
At the one, two and three singles, it took a decisive third set as Buchholz and Floyd won theirs while AMANDA BLACKWELL dropped a close decision at the #2 singles.
In the second match of the day, the closest set of the day came at #3 doubles as Floyd and TABEA SOELTER dropped a close 9-7 decision.
The split leaves PC at 2-4 overall heading into the final day of the Spring Break tourney.
Turning Point
--MORGAN BUCHHOLZ turned it around in the first match after dropping the opening set to come back and win at #1 singles in a decisive third set.
Standout Performances
--Buchholz helped the Lady Lions secure the victory in the first match as she was named USA South Rookie of the Week in women's tennis today for her performance on Sunday.
Inside the Box Score
--Piedmont's pair of opponents today were first time known opponents as there have been no recorded matches between PC and Judson or Ursinus.

--The Lady Lions move to 2-4 on the season with both wins coming in the past two days.
