A jury on Tuesday convicted a 20-year-old man for the robbery of a Dollar General store in Buford near the Mall of Georgia.

Demetrice Tyson tackled the store's manager the night of Dec. 29 as he and two other men were walking a bag of money to a truck for a deposit, according to a report in the Gwinnett Daily Post.

The tackle was apparently hard enough that the employee thought he broke several ribs, and bit his tongue, according to courtroom testimony.

Tyson grabbed the money and ran, and witnesses said they spotted a knife in his hand.

Tyson confessed to the robbery, adding that he knew the manager would be walking the money out for the store's deposit.
