A now-former math teacher at Lambert High School in South Forsyth County is behind bars for allegedly having a relationship with a 17-year-old female student.
John "David" Ubriaco, 33, of Dawson County was arrested Friday on two counts of felony sexual assault, according to Deputy Doug Rainwater, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman.
"We put him into the Forsyth County Detention Center with no bond, which those charges carry," said Rainwater in a phone interview.
The investigation was started by Lambert's school resource officer (SRO), who was acting on information provided by school officials.
Ubriaco resigned his post on Feb. 21, according to Jennifer Caracciolo, Forsyth County Schools spokeswoman, and had been employed at Lambert since August 2016.
He did not teach in Forsyth County before he was hired at Lambert.
The school system will not be releasing further comment, Caracciolo said in an email to AccessWDUN, since it is a personnel issue and criminal investigation.
Rainwater said more charges could be forthcoming in the case.
"The investigation is primarily over, but we want to give time to other people if they choose to maybe call us about this former teacher. You never know," said Rainwater.
Lambert is located on Nichols Road in Suwanee.
