Cecil Boswell, a well-known Gainesville area World War II veteran, died Sunday at the age of 99.

Boswell was a long-time participant in Gainesville's Memorial Day Parade each year and walked the Green Street route from First Baptist Church to downtown until just a few years ago.  He always wore his Army uniform.

Boswell was also a fixture at other military-related events in the area, such as those at local schools.  One of his last public appearances was in November when the Gainesville Rotary Club held a special program honoring WWII veterans.

No details about his death were immediately available, only that it occurred Sunday.  Funeral arrangements are pending.
