Rain washes out several Saturday SpeedWeeks races

Rain wreaked havoc on racing in the Sunshine State on Saturday night, as several Florida SpeedWeeks events were affected by rain.

At New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Saturday events as a part of the World Series of Asphalt Racing was washed out. The track will be back in action on Sunday night for the 2017 season opener for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

At East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Florida, the weekend finale for the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series portion of the 41st annual Winternationals was canceled due to heavy rains. That series now moves on to Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida on Sunday night.

At Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, the DIRTcar Nationals action for Saturday night was also affected by rain, making Sunday night’s action an doubleheader for both the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and the DIRTcar UMP Dirt Modifieds.
