DAWSONVILLE — Dawson County opened the game with a 13-5 run and then held on for a 72-61 win over Lovett Friday night in the first round of the Class AAA girls state tournament.
Kaylee Sticker continued to show is one of the up-and-coming players in the area pouring in a game-high 26 points to lead Dawson County. Chloe Bennett added 17 and Marlie Townley 12 for the Lady Tigers.
Dawson County extended their early lead to 32-20 by halftime and 51-38 heading into the fourth quarter. Lovett could only get as close as the final score.
The Lady Tigers will await the Monroe-Southeast Bulloch winner on Wednesday.
