Baseball: Meeler leads North Hall past Buford

GAINESVILLE — Corban Meeler tossed five scoreless innings and fanned six in leading North Hall to a 9-3 victory over Buford Wednesday at Jody Davis Field.

North Hall improved to 2-0 on the season. It was the season-opener for the Wolves (0-1).

The Trojans exploded for five runs in the third inning to break a scoreless tie. Buford trimmed the lead to 6-3 with a three-run sixth but North Hall added three runs in the bottom of the inning to put things out of reach.

Caleb Clark had two hits and three RBI to pace North Hall. Reese Olson had two hits and two RBI, Taber Mongero had a double and one RBI, and Charlie Erickson had a double and two RBI for the Trojans. Austin Adams had a single and a RBI and Dylan Lavender had three hits.

Akira Mitchell and Austin Turner had two hits each for Buford. Griffin Price, Noah Ledford, and Mitchell had one RBI apiece for the Wolves.

Frank Bradshaw took the loss for Buford lasting just 2 1/3 innings yielding five runs on three hits. He walked three and fanned four.

Buford next travels to Harrison on Friday. North Hall will play a doubleheader against West Forsyth and George Walton on Saturday at home.
