All lanes of Ga. 20/Nelson Brogdon Boulevard in the Sugar Hill area are open for traffic, officials announced Friday.

The widening project added extra lanes in both directions along a four-mile stretch between Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and Burnette Trail.

“We, along with Georgia DOT, are pleased to open the project to traffic,” said Alan Chapman, Director of the Gwinnett County Department of Transportation, in a statement.

Ga. 20 is now four lanes from Sugar Hill all the way to Walton County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is in the process of widening the Ga. 20 bridge over the Chattahoochee into Forsyth County, and partnering with Forsyth officials to widen it between James Burgess Road and Samples Road.
