The newly widened portion of State Route 400 southbound will open between State Route 141 and McFarland Parkway in Forsyth County Friday.

The widening of this four-mile stretch of the road began in May. Work is continuing on the section between State Route 369/ Browns Bridge Road to State Route 141/ Peachtree Parkway.  That part of the project is scheduled to be finished late next Spring.

Work began on the overall project in April 2015 - and the Georgia Department of Transportation says it is "currently on schedule."
