Drug agents in Lumpkin County said they ran into a bit of luck Tuesday when questioning a man about suspected illegal drug sales.

Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office Special Agent in Charge Mitchell Posey said Lumpkin County Sheriff's Deputies went to the the home of Tony Anthony Monteith to ask him if the allegations of selling drugs were true.

"He allowed us to search his house," Posey said. "In the search of the house, we found methamphetamine, marijuana, Clonazapam and hydrocodone."

Monteith, 45, of Dahlonega, is charged with possession of each narcotic and intent to distribute. He was booked into the Lumpkin County jail. Posey said the drugs were valued at roughly $2,200.

Posey said officers were fortunate the tip was correct and the search was easy. He encouraged anyone with a drug tip to contact authorities.
Authorities seized methamphetamine, marijuana, Clonazapam and hydrocodone from a home in Lumpkin County Tuesday, December 19, 2017.
