Oakwood man dies following Sunday house fire

Posted 10:05AM on Monday 18th December 2017 ( 6 years ago )

An Oakwood man has succumbed to his injuries after a fire at his home Sunday morning.

Jordan Wilson, 29, suffered severe burns in the fire. He was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital where Hall County Interim EMA Director Casey Ramsey said he passed away Monday morning.

Ramsey said investigators think a container of gasoline was too close to a heat source or open flame in the back of the Oakwood home. Wilson was near both items and when the gasoline ignited, he was severely burned.

Ramsey said Wilson's grandmother, who also lives at the residence, was not home at the time of the fire. She and Wilson are the only occupants. Ramsey said the home is currently unlivable and the grandmother is with other family members.

Investigators are still looking in to the fire.
