The annual Christmas on Green Street was held Sunday afternoon in Gainesville, closing down the historic street for several hours.

Following a parade, participants were encouraged to visit or tour the historic homes on the street, get cookies, hot chocolate and other treats, sing a long with carolers, participate in activities, visit the petting zoo, inlcuding a camel, learn more about our local businesses, enjoy dinner from food truck and watch the annual lighting of the Rotary Tree.

The Civic Center featured cookies, cocoa and a petting zoo.
Several locations on Green Street had activities or performances at the homes.

A camel was the star of the petting zoo, joining the fan favorite rabbits, goats, sheep and silky chickens.
A boy gently pets the camel, who was happy to have some affection while he grazed.
Historic homes on Green Street are decorated for the holidays. Most homes have been turned in to businesses. Many had signs indicating which family used to own the home.

The Rotary Tree is lit up for all to see at the end of Christmas on Green Street. The large tree sits in a small park and is maintained and decorated each year by the Rotary Club of Gainesville. The tree is a holly, native to Georgia.
Crowds gather at the decorated homes for choirs, snacks, activities and of course, just to admire the historic buildings.
The closure of Green Street allowed residents to get up close and personal to the buildings, homes and businesses on the road they normally weren't able to stop and see.

Street performers, like these jugglers, roamed Green Street for additional entertainment. Several princesses and princes, as well as other characters, were also walking through the street for photos. Here, a woman is pulled in to the juggling routine.
