Gwinnett County firefighters are now better equipped to rescue pets from residential fires after the donation of 42 pet oxygen masks, allowing each fire engine and ladder truck in the county to have a set.
The donation was made by Davis and Jennifer Robinson. The Peachtree Corners were inspired to donate more after hearing about a previous donation of a single pet oxygen mask set, as well as their own two Lab-mix rescues.
The set include three mask sizes, one for large, medium and small dogs, with the smallest mas also fitting cats, puppies and other small creatures. The sets are about $65 each.
The couple saved their money for about a month to purchase the sets for all of the fire trucks, working with Battalion Chief Brian Wolfe to figure out how many sets were needed and what types of masks were being used.
The day before Thanksgiving, the Robinsons presented the masks to Chief Wolfe during a ceremony and the masks are being distributed to all the fire stations in the county.
“We just can’t say enough about the generosity of the Robinson’s, to place the needs of our department and our community’s furriest friends before their own. They are truly a special couple,” said Wolfe.
