HOMER -- Banks County 's new director of economic development already has moved to the county and officially begins work next week.
That new hire was ratified during a called county commission meeting Wednesday morning.
"Her name is Hannah Mullins," said Commission Chairman Jimmy Hooper. "She's coming to us directly from Metter. She's been the economic director for several counties in the state, and has an upstanding track record. We're excited to have her onboard. She's been here about a week now, and she starts her official duties the first week in December."
Hooper and other commissioners said they are excited to have Mullins join the county government.
"I know she's going to do a good job, because we have a lot of projects going on in the county right now," Hooper said.
Mullins was announced as sole finalist for the post just more than two weeks ago then, in accordance with law, commissioners had to wait 14 days after releasing her name to formally finalize the hire.
Mullins replaces Brad Day, who recently left county government for private sector economic development.
