Officials investigating Habersham County house fire

CLARKESVILLE — An investigator from the state fire marshal’s office has joined Habersham County officials in attempting to determine the cause of the fire that damaged a home just outside Clarkesville Tuesday afternoon.

The fire, reported shortly after 4 p.m., was at a home on Laurel Drive off Double Bridge Road, according to Habersham County Assistant Fire Chief Jason Davey.

Firefighters from Habersham County Station 13, Clarkesville, Demorest and Lee Arrendale State Prison responded to battle the fire, remaining on scene until about 7:45 p.m.

No one was home at the time of the fire.

One firefighter suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Habersham Medical Center for treatment, according to Davey.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
