Shoplifting case leads to felony charge in Hall County

Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said a Gainesville man is facing several charges stemming from a shoplifting incident at J and J Foods on Jesse Jewell Parkway. 
 
Investigators said the incident happened Friday when they responded to a shoplifting call involving Ryan Travanti Stephens, 34.
 
They said when deputies arrived, Stephens fled on foot. When caught, Stephens allegedly fought and hit a deputy several times. 
 
Stephens is charged with misdemeanor shoplifting along with felony obstruction and felony battery. 
 
Stephens will have a committal hearing December 4th.
