Battle, Carver-Atlanta run past Falcons

ATLANTA — Octavious Battle was too much for the Flowery Branch defense.

Battle scored on touchdown runs of 62, 61, and 50-yards as part of a 234-yard performance to lead Carver-Atlanta to a 33-19 victory over the Falcons Friday night in the second round of the Class AAAAA playoffs.

The Panthers (11-1) scored 26 consecutive points in the second an thid quarters to break a 7-all tie to put the game out of reach.

Flowery Branch (9-3) inched closer with a 52-yard touchdown pass from Elijah Gainey to Jalin Strown in the third quarter and then gainey scored on a 1-yard run in the fourth quarter to pull the Falcons within the final score.

Senior Malik Damons had a solid outing in his final game with 173 yards on 25 carries. The Panthers defense clamped down on fellow senior Malik Drayton holding the speedster to just 18 yards on 11 carries and to just 1 reception for 13 yards.
