BUFORD — Right on cue, Buford football is rounding into playoff form.
The Wolves dominated Maynard Jackson for a 48-0 win in the second round of the Class AAAAA bracket on Friday in Buford, claiming their 18th straight state quarterfinal berth.
And it wasn't even that close.
The Wolves (10-1) rolled to a 20-0 first quarter lead and never looked back, stonewalling Jackson for just 87 total yards and forcing seven turnovers.
Meanwhile, Buford's ground game fired on all cylinders, rushing for 325 yards and five touchdowns -- including 13 carries for 136 yards and three scores from Anthony Grant. Christian Turner also rushed 11 times for 89 yards and a score, while Derrian Brown added 15 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Aaron McLaughlin also passed for two scores while completing 8 of 16 attempts.
Third-ranked Buford will travel to face second-ranked Stockbridge in the third round of the playoffs thanks to a coin flip by the GHSA to determine home field between the two region champions.
