TOCCOA — Jefferson did not put up flashy offensive numbers, but the Dragons got things done on Friday night, defeating Stephens County 27-24 in Toccoa.
The victory kept Jefferson in the hunt for the No. 2 seed from Region 8-AAAA.
Sammy Elegreet hauled in five receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown in the win, as the Dragons (7-2, 3-1 Region 8-AAAA) snagged an early lead and held on for the win. Colby Wood finished with 24 rushes for 68 yards and a score, while Justin Cole added nine rushes for 46 yards and a touchdown for Jefferson.
Bryce Moore completed 6 of 16 passes for 101 yardsand a touchdown, while also rushing for a score.
Hayden Kilgore also kicked field goals of 27 and 32 yards in the win.
The Dragons will play host to Oconee County next week, where a win would net the No. 2 seed.
Stephens County (4-5, 1-3) will travel to North Oconee next week.
