For almost a decade, Lakeview Academy football has scratched and clawed for every little success in carving out a new program.
That has not come easy in a loaded Region 8-A.
But after waiting and hoping for that watershed moment, that watershed season -- the one where everything changed -- the Lions feel they may just be on that verge.
A big reason for that optimism is senior quarterback Alec Bornhorst. The signal caller made an immediate impact after joining Lakeview last season, helping them come as close to the postseason as they have ever come -- less than one full percentage point in the Class A Private power ratings.
With three games to go, the Lions are once again within a hair's breadth of that historic first postseason berth. And the senior dual-threat is going to do all he can to make the difference this time around.
His numbers, ability and leadership have helped the Lions into the discussion this season, and have made him a member of the northeast Georgia's Year of the Quarterback class.
