SOCIAL CIRCLE — Despite the offense scoring nine touchdowns, it was the Rabun County defense that sparked a dominating 63-7 win Friday night over Social Circle in Region 8-AA action.
The Wildcats (7-0, 3-0 Region 8-AA) held the Redskins (2-6, 1-3 Region 8-AA) to just 115 total yards, forced four turnovers, and scored the same number of points as it gave up. Cole Keener's 26-yard interception return for a touchdown was the second of three scores in the first six minutes of the game as Rabun County blew the game open in a hurry.
Bailey Fisher and Keener connecetd on a 50-yard bomb less than a minute before Keener's interception return and then Fisher found Chase Horton on a 12-yard scoring pass for a 21-0 lead. Brison Beck added a 15-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 28-0 by the end of the first quarter.
Rabun County would take a 560 lead into halftime. A.J. Wheeler had a scoring run and Fisher had a pair of touchdown runs, and ten Beck punhed in his second touchdown run from 9-yards out.
The score stayed that way until early in the fourth quarter when Mason Sprinkle scored on a 41-yard run.
Social Circle finally got on the board with two minutes left on a touchdon run.
Beck finished with 91 yards rushing to lead Rabun County. Fisher as 8-of-12 for 183 yards and Horton had four catches for 85 yards.
