BLAIRSVILLE — Dawson County scored 52 unanswered points to erase an early deficit in taking an impressive 52-21 victory over Union County Friday night in Region 7-AAA action.

Union County broke a scoreless tie late in the first quarter when Cole Wright found Bryan Smith for a 3-yard touchdown pass to take a 7-0 lead. It was all Dawson County (4-2, 2-0 Region 7-AAA) from there.

Six different players scored, with Peyton Allen booting a 26-yard field goal just over a minute into the second quarter to trim the lead to 7-3. Robbie Rarick then scored the first of two touchdowns on a 12-yard run to give the Tigers the lead for good. Sevaughn Clark added an 8-yard touchdown run and Coey Watson connected with Ethan Cameron on a 25-yard touchdown pass to cap a 24-point second quarter.

The third was even more eplosive as the Tigers tallied 28 points getting touchdown runs from Shawn Thomas and Clark, a 58-yard sprint, and Noah Brock provided a special teams score when he took a blocked punt by TJ Wilson 10 yards for a score.

Midway through the fourth quarter Cole Wright added another TD pass and sophomore backup Pierson Allison had a 50-yard touchdown pass for the Panthers for the final score of the game.

The loss for the Panthers (4-3, 0-3) was their third straight and dropped them into last place in the region standings. Despite having the No. 3 offense in Class AAA, Union County has been outscored 161-70 during the losing streak.

The Panthers travel to North Hall in another key region showdown next week.

Dawson Cuonty plays host to Fannin County next week.
